A large state organisation is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced HR Advisor Payroll to join their team on a temporary basis. This role demands the utmost professionalism and confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll information. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of the organisation's fortnightly payroll, in compliance with relevant Awards, org agreement, statutory requirements, and their policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
As an integral part of the Payroll team, you will be responsible for:
- Accurately and promptly preparing, entering, and transmitting fortnightly payroll data and associated materials.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Awards, Industrial Agreements, and statutory/legislative requirements.
- Providing precise information to both management and staff in a timely manner.
- Identifying and reporting hazards related to Health and Safety, actively participating in improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities (cont'd):
Payroll:
- Preparing and processing fortnightly payroll calculations and timesheets, including tasks related to new hires, leave, salary adjustments, pay changes, performance payments, promotions, transfers, and terminations using Chris21.
- Ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all terms and conditions of employment in accordance with relevant legislative provisions.
- Updating and maintaining payroll files, databases, and spreadsheets regularly, including the Payroll intranet page, policies, procedures, and documents.
- Preparing and distributing fortnightly and monthly HR and payroll reports, as well as adhoc HR statistical reports when necessary.
- Maintaining and updating personnel files in accordance with records management systems.
- Keeping current knowledge and understanding of all relevant policies, legislation, and EBAs to facilitate efficient and compliant payroll processing.
- Assisting in the preparation and remittance of fortnightly superannuation contributions.
- Assisting in the preparation and processing of journals for employee provisions.
- Assisting in the reconciliation of payroll-related General Ledger accounts.
- Assisting with End of Year processing and reconciliation, including payment summaries.
- Assisting with research into HR/Payroll issues, particularly those related to data integrity resolutions.
- Assisting with the development of procedural documentation and user training to support the correct use of the HR/Payroll System.
- Processing organisational structural changes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with org guidelines.
- Collaborating with the Talent Acquisition and HR Portfolio Teams to ensure a consistent and efficient life-cycle process for all org employees.
- Handling adhoc HR and Payroll matters.
- Actively participating and contributing to Payroll team meetings.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required:
- Competency in payroll processing, preparation, and data entry.
- Understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including NES, taxation, and superannuation.
- Proficiency in working with relevant software packages such as Word, Advanced Excel, Outlook, and large payroll system packages (Chris21 experience preferred).
- Competent numeracy skills, including the ability to understand routine formulas and calculate payroll matters such as overtime and remuneration package/contract details.
- Ability to prepare statistical and general payroll/personnel-related reports.
